Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name given to Winona Laura Hoowitz, born within Winona Minnesota. The parents of her daughter named her the city she grew up in after her birthplace. Michel Horowitz' father was an author and editor along with Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder's mother and father also happen to be Jewish. Ryder believes herself to being Jewish. Ryder has two half-siblings younger than her, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved her along with their children to Mendocino County California when Ryder reached seven. In Mendocino County, they did not have electricity. Ryder read a lot because of the lack of television. Ryder was enrolled in acting classes when Ryder was twelve years old, at the American Conservatory Theatre. In 1986 she landed her first big-screen role in the film Lucas at just 15 years old. Ryder was bullied in high school. She hoped acting might change the situation. However, it didn't happen. Still she continued pursuing her dream. In 1988, when Tim Burton released Beetlejuice that she got her big break. Ryder was later cast in successful roles. Ryder was nominated twice for Academy Awards one for her role on The Age of Innocence (1993).
